Wiring a handset to every apartment
A traditional intercom means running a copper pair from the gatehouse to every apartment. In new construction that is expensive; in an occupied building it means opening up the facade, the risers and the ceilings to reach a device that does exactly one thing.

Three steps, without the guard typing a number
The guard searches by tower and apartment
On the touchscreen at the post they type the tower number and the apartment number. No scrolling a list of names and no asking for a surname.
The station dials a contact, not a phone number
The system resolves the number internally and places the GSM call. The screen shows «Tower 3 · Apt 502», never the resident's number.
The resident answers on their mobile
At the office, at the gym or in their own living room: the call reaches them either way, and they authorize or deny entry by voice.
A resident's phone number is personal data

Residential communities
Occupied towers where running new cable is not viable, and where the resident spends much of the day away from the apartment.

About virtual intercom
What is DigiAccess virtual intercom?
It is one of the five DigiAccess product lines. It replaces the wired handset in every apartment with a GSM call to the resident's mobile: the gatehouse searches by tower and apartment number on a touchscreen, and the station places the call.
Numbers are stored and dialled encrypted, so the guard dials a contact and never sees the resident's phone number.
Does anything have to be wired to the apartments?
No. The call goes over the mobile network, so no cable is run to the homes and no device is installed in each one. Only the station at the guard post is installed.
Can the guard see or copy the resident's number?
No. Numbers travel and are stored encrypted. The screen at the post shows the tower and the apartment, not the phone number. When a guard changes shift or job, they take no directory with them.
Does it work if the resident is not in the apartment?
Yes. The call reaches the mobile wherever they are, as long as there is coverage. That is the difference from a traditional intercom, which only rings inside the home.
